Slippery stones

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 73:2-3 Truly God is good to Israel, To such as are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Asaf is telling us in this Psalm that when he focused on the foolish and unrighteous people, he felt like he was walking on slippery stones. It almost made him to fall. But this was only until he came to the House of God. Then his perspective changed. He says it like this in verse 17-18: “Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end. Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction.”

Things change when you come into the house and presence of God. The first thing that happens is that God removes you from the slippery stones, sets your feet upon a rock, and establishes your goings. (Psalm 40:2) Then He changes your perspective. You will see and understand that those who will slip and fall in the end are not you, but the foolish. While God has sat your feet upon a rock, and established your goings, He has sat the foolish on slippery places. We may start on slippery places, and stumble, but in the end, we will STAND, after withstanding the evil day!!! (Ephesian 6:13) The foolish and ungodly on the other hand, may seem like that they are standing now, but in the end, they will find themselves on slippery stones and fall.

Let us make our way into the presence of God, so He can establish our goings, and change our perspective. What is important is not how we start the journey, but how we end the journey!!! GøranANdreassen

Ezekiel 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
